The signage will be done by Peebles Island in order to be consistent with other signage in the park. The signs will describe the Clan symbols of the Seneca Nation. This will help to further educate the public and school children about the governance of the Seneca Nation. There were 8 clans in all, each depicted by either an animal or bird symbol. This signage will enhance the interpretation and understanding of the role of the Seneca Indian Nation in Western New York for the park visitor and especially the school children who study this local history in the 4th grade Social Studies curriculum in New York State. Estimated annual average attendance at the Museum and Council Grounds is over 20,000 people. As Hayden Letchworth, great nephew of William Pryor Letchworth, mentioned in his letter of support for this project: these signs would "help visitors visualize what occurred there many generations ago and appreciate the significance of this history". He further states that "linking the museum and the council grounds with a series of educational signs would enhance their (school children's) experience". Hayden Letchworth mentions that his great uncle, who revered education, would be delighted to know that so many view the Native American collection at the Museum as well as listen to Native American legends and stories.
